Bilbao BBK Live 2011: Blondie, Beady Eye, Tv on the Radio and Ken Zazpi, new confirmations

We already have four new confirmations for the Bilbao BBK Live 2011. The legendary Blondie, the ex Oasis Beady Eye, the US TV On The Radio and the pop-rock Basque band Ken Zazpi become part of the list of artists that will be in Kobetamendi from 7th to 9th of July.

Blondie is born in the mid 70s in New Cork, just at the same time as other local bands like Ramones or Television and within the just emerged punk-rock movement. Their third album ‘Parallel Lines’, from 1978, meant a great success both in the USA and the UK and established Blondie as one of the best bands of the moment thanks to songs like ‘Heart Of Glass’, ‘Sunday Girl’, ‘Picture This’ or ‘One Way Or Another’. The band from New York led by Debbie Harry became one of the icons of the new wave and in fashion at the beginnings of the 80’s.

After their long separation at the end of the 90’s the band joined back and the studio albums, the tours and numbers ones came back. In 2011 the release of their new album ‘Panic Of Girls’ is expected and its first single ‘Mother’ was launched last December. Blondie has sold more than 50 million of copies of their records all along its career.

Beady Eye, on its side, is comprised of Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock, all of them ex-members of Oasis. In fact, this project starts after Noel Gallagher’s departure from the band. Beady Eye’s first album will be entitled ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ and will be on sale at the end of this month. For the moment we have already heard three singles:‘Bring The Light’, ‘Four Letter Word’ and ‘The Roller’. They demonstrate that Beady Eye’s rock&roll is still the rock and roll with a marked British style.

Blondie are not the only artists from New York in the new list of confirmations. Their fellows TV On The Radio will also be at Kobetamendi next July. This quintet from Brooklyn have created one of the most original proposals within the alternative rock scece of the last years by taking their music close to styles like the free jazz, the electronic music or the soul. They will release their fift album this spring.

Finally, Ken Zazpi complete this list of additions. The Basque band released its first album in 2001 and, since then, they have achieved one success after the other. It is a pop-rock sang in Basque committed to its times shown in songs with powerful melodies. Their last work was edited last years and it is called ‘Ortzemugak begietan’.
