Restaurants Guide

Many visitors’ best memory of Bilbao is to do with the moments of pure delight that they enjoy when they linger over a meal at one of the city’s restaurants. Not only is it the opportunity to try the famous Basque cuisine, but you can also discover the many different facets that make up the gastronomy of the Basque Country.

Since 1997, the city's best pintxo venues compete for top prize in the annual "Pintxo Bar Contest – Bilbao Bizkaia - Pintxo Txapelketa".

This section will both delight you and show you how to make any one of a wide range of Bilbao's prize-winning Pintxos, a mouthwatering bite-sized version of haute cuisine.

Our wines

Wine has always played a leading role in day to day life in Bilbao.

Thus it is no mystery that the city promotes both txakoli from Bizkaia and Rioja wine, as part of a global network of eight big cities within internationally known wine-growing regions.

(Español) Los mercados municipales promueven el consumo de frutas y verduras de verano

From September 3 to 6 and for the second year in a row, Bilbao will become a global centre of sailing, a meeting point for a broad range of boaters, sailors, adventurers, journalists and sea lovers, and with the best international content on sailing.

SAIL in Festival is a festival of sailing culture, which aims to promote and spread the art of sailing. Sailing is more than a sport. We want to excite, educate, inspire and connect people through strong values conveyed in sailing. The poster for this second edition is dedicated to the magnificent work of photographer Gilles Martin-Raget, one of the most legendary and prolific photographers in the world of sailing, with an evocative image of a classic sailboat of the early twentieth century sailing the seas of the XXI century .

It will be another opportunity to view a selection of the best documentaries and short films about the different types of sailing, completed with the ability to meet the protagonists of the stories themselves and chat with legendary navigators, great sailors and adventurers who sail the seas. We will have 15 renowned guests for this purpose.
