ART CITY

Bilbao's commitment to artistic expression is intimately tied to the shift in the model of urban and economic development.

Not only is the Guggenheim Museum able to attract the most sophisticated contemporary art shows, but both the Fine Arts Museum and Bilbao Arte Foundation have also displayed a spectacular renewal, promoting programmes to produce and disseminate art of all types.

BILBAO DESIGN

The concept of design is so wide and varied that sometimes the boundary between art and other artistic disciplines becomes very thin, or even non-existent.

Un Comercio, una Obra de Arte

A year on, the third edition of ARTESHOP contest has been announced. This is an innovative initiative that reaches the harmonization of art and commerce in a single social interest and also in the same physical space: the city of Bilbao.

The aim of this project is to support the business activity of the city, offering a new and attractive experience for the people who enjoy a shopping stroll in Bilbao. It adds value to the already interesting trade offer of our city and, at the same time, an opportunity to promote the creative activity of the artists from Bilbao Arts Foundation and students from the Faculty of Fine Arts from the UPV-EHU.

From June 14 to 28, the artistic interventions may be visited in the 75 chosen commercial facilities in Bilbao. A renowned jury will select the three top entries. On implementing their interventions, students will be supported by ten artists from Bilbao Arts Foundation, who will exert a commissioning role work. These artists will also hold a joint coordinated exhibition in Mercado de la Ribera.
